Cape Breton Partnership elects new Board Chair
At the Annual General Meeting and Investor Summit today, the Board of Directors of the Cape Breton Partnership elected Chad Munro, CEO of Mabou-based Halifax Biomedical, as its new Chair.
“Over the past few years, the Partnership has been led by excellent leaders – most recently with Dan Christmas. Dan’s dedication and commitment have allowed the organization to play an active role in moving the economy of Cape Breton in a positive direction,” said Munro. “By following Dan’s example, I hope to continue to make progress where he has left off.”
“Chad is a natural leader and a wise choice for the next Chair of the Board of Directors,” said past chair of the board, Dan Christmas. “He has a passion for business and a strong ambition to work hard to help this region thrive.”
Munro and the Board of Directors intend to work closely with Partnership staff, Investors, stakeholders, and all three levels of government to engage youth and provide opportunities that will allow them to stay in the Cape Breton region. They will also focus on retaining and encouraging investment in the area’s businesses and be engaged in the province-wide dialogue that is currently underway around sustainable, clean energy and innovation.
“My role as the founder and owner of Halifax Biomedical has taken me all over the globe and, in my travels, I’ve learned much about hard work, growth, and community,” said Munro. “In my role as chair of the Partnership, I would like to apply that knowledge to Cape Breton and bring individuals together to find new and innovative ideas to help strengthen Cape Breton’s economy.”
Munro also served on the advisory committee for the Integrated Strategic Framework for Economic Prosperity. The findings and recommendations outlined in the Framework were shared at the Cape Breton Partnership AGM & Investor Summit with the launch to follow later this year. The framework takes existing economic development strategies and plans, economic base analysis and community consultations, and consolidates them into a go-forward plan for the region. The Partnership is excited to be working with private sector leaders and the public sector in the implementation of the plan.
