Cape Breton – Mulgrave needs a clear economic strategy and the Integrated Strategic Framework for Economic Prosperity (SEF) is a plan for how Cape Breton – Mulgrave will grow the region’s economy and set a clear path for the future. It explains what the region needs to do to grow its $3.2 Billion economy, how it will be done and who will be responsible to make it happen.
The SEF provides a set of common priorities for our region, helping businesses, public agencies, voluntary groups and communities to focus their investment and effort on what will really make a difference for Cape Breton – Mulgrave.
How Will the SEF be Developed?
It will be based on clear economic evidence and will encompass the preparation of an overall Strategic Economic Framework that will strengthen coordination of existing economic development efforts and identify the region’s best value propositions for building the economy. In essence, the SEF will incorporate data from existing economic development work, community strategic plans, stakeholder consultations and other pertinent documents to build an overarching blueprint for economic development opportunities for Cape Breton – Mulgrave.
The Cape Breton Partnership has contracted a consulting team led by Economic Growth Solutions Inc., a Canadian consulting firm specializing in economic development strategies, to undertake the work. The consulting team has a two-phased work plan including significant background research and document review, situational analysis and consultations with key stakeholders. Phase two will include the development of a common vision, identify priorities for development, develop a business attraction plan, outline target economic development goals and include measurables to ensure targets are being met.
It is expected that the final delivery of the Integrated Strategic Framework for Economic Prosperity will be delivered in the Fall of 2011.
